Texas Tech's Romello Height is one of the more intriguing edge defender prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft, coming off a highly productive 2025 campaign that saw him put up huge numbers for one of the most dominant defenses in all of college football. A loaded class at his position, could push him down the board, but that could make Height a value pick in the middle rounds.

Here's everything NFL fans need to know about Height heading into this year's draft:

Romello Height's Vitals

Height: 6-3

Weight: 235

Age: 24

Romello Height's Strengths

The most important thing modern edge rushers can do is get to the quarterback, and few in this class do it better than Height. He’s lightning-quick off the ball, and challenges opposing offensive tackles with his burst and acceleration around the arc. He doesn’t just win with athletic ability, though; Height has a deep bag of polished moves he can win with consistently, and he knows how to use his hands effectively to create leverage and give himself a technical advantage on his way to the passer. If his first move doesn’t work, he’s comfortable moving to a well-executed counter, and he’s the motor to keep fighting through the rep at 100 percent. Despite a leaner frame, he’s a violent, punishing hitter who can make splash plays when he gets to the ball-carrier.

Romello Height's Weaknesses

Speaking of that frame, Height’s lack of bulk could make things challenging for him at the next level. He lacks the strength to convert speed to power at a level that will be consistently effective against quality opponents at the NFL level, and he struggles to consistently anchor against the run, which could make it difficult for him to stay on the field on early downs. If he’s asked to play in space or drop into coverage, Height’s lateral fluidity and technique as a tackler can be exposed by shifty runners and receivers. He’ll also be an older prospect in this class, turning 25 years old before the draft.

Final Analysis

It’s likely Height gets labeled a one-trick pony at the next level due to his lack of size and power, but when that one stick is exploding off the edge and sacking the quarterback all the time, it’s still enough to entice NFL teams in the early rounds. His shortcomings may keep him out of the first round, but even as a situational pass rusher, Height could put up double-digit sacks with his speed, effort and technique.
