Another Washington Commanders coach has been fined. The NFL fined Commanders head coach Ron Rivera $100,000 and docked the team two OTA practices in 2023 due to excessive contract in practice drills, according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano.

At the forefront it is known that Commanders safety Jeremy Reaves delivered a devastating hit on wide receiver Dyami Brown in an OTA practice earlier this month. By all accounts there were more, but it was clear why Rivera was so upset about the contact.

Brown suffered a sore shoulder as a result. However, he did participate during this week’s three-day mandatory minicamp.

All offseason practices are monitored closely by the NFL and its Players Association. They focus for any violations as part of the collective bargaining agreement.

Houston Texans head coach Lovie Smith was fined $50,000 due to prohibited one-on-one offensive line vs. defensive line drills. Earlier this week, the league fined Mike McCarthy $100,000 and docked the Cowboys one OTA practice next year for too much contact.

The NFL allow teams 10 offseason practices. Washington will have eight in 2023. Players will be paid any compensation for the two docked days. But, they cannot work out at the team facility.
