Rumor Suggests Patriots 'Aggressively' Pursuing Wide Receiver Trade

The New England Patriots have suddenly emerged as contenders in the AFC, which means they could be aggressive making moves before the trade deadline in November.

After starting this season off 1-2, the Patriots have rattled off three straight wins over the Carolina Panthers, Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints. Second-year quarterback Drake Maye has been outstanding for Mike Vrabel's squad, completing 73.2% of his passes for 1,522 yards with 10 touchdowns and two interceptions.

Although nothing is guaranteed, the Patriots could get Maye a new weapon in the coming weeks.

On Wednesday afternoon, a popular social media user by the name of "Rickey Scoops" said the Patriots are "aggressively looking to trade for a WR before the deadline." Before fans completely dismiss this rumor, just know this same account was all over the Green Bay Packers trading for former Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons.

Who will the Patriots pursue?

In a follow-up post, "Rickey Scoops" said the Saints are open to trading fourth-year wide receiver Chris Olave. Why is that interesting? Well, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer mentioned the former Ohio State star as a potential trade candidate for the Patriots.

"There is one name on there I think you probably want to keep an eye on," Breer said, via NBC Sports Boston. "This is, you know, injury permitting. It's Chris Olave."

Olave has 39 catches for 342 yards and a touchdown this season. He'd definitely give the Patriots another reliable weapon in the passing game.
