Russell Wilson Announces ‘First-Ever’ News on Friday

Russell Wilson, the New York Giants’ quarterback, has spent most of his time off the field this season. He started the first three games, totaling 778 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. All three games ended in losses, prompting a change to the depth chart.

Rookie Jaxson Dart took over as the starter, with Jameis Winston as backup. Starting the former Ole Miss signal caller gave New York its first win of the season, against the Los Angeles Chargers, sealing Dart’s position.

Wilson accepted the decision. The 36-year-old has chosen to remain with the club to help it achieve success.

"I thank God every day I get to do what I love to do and play this game with guys that I love and enjoy and being around the locker room, the teammates," Wilson said following his first practice as the Giants' new backup. "I think it's really about the team, really about helping Jaxson the best I possibly can."

Off the field, he did not sit idle. He sought to make a difference in the community. Wilson's latest venture was a small gift to the boys of New Heights Youth, a nonprofit, sports-based youth development and educational organization.

Wilson owns 3Brand, an initiative that seeks to empower athletes with high-performance gear. He sponsored New Heights’ entire basketball team, giving them their first-ever branded jerseys.

"So Lit! Future’s Team rocking first ever @3brand Jerseys! Just the Beginning! #Surprise" Wilson posted on X.

The kit features "New Heights NYC" written in white on a bright red background. Wilson also gave them a kit bag to go with the color scheme.

3Brand is partnered with Nike, so this is a significant development for the entire youth team. The brand also donates 3% of all sales to the Why Not You Foundation, another initiative by Wilson that focuses on developing and empowering young people.

The Giants are 2-9 in the league with a matchup against the Detroit Lions coming up Sunday.
