Russell Wilson began his career with few expectations as a third-round pick, but as he developed with the vaunted Seattle Seahawks defense, he put himself on a Hall-of-Fame trajectory.

He appeared in back-to-back Super Bowls in 2014 and 2015, winning one of them, and statistically was one of the best quarterbacks in the league until he departed from Seattle.

He’s bounced around the league the last few years and landed with the New York Giants this offseason.

Fans and media members around the league didn’t think much of it, and they were validated in their beliefs when Wilson was benched earlier this week after just three starts with the team.

Many people thought that could be it for his career after being benched for the second time in three seasons, but Wilson had some strong words on the subject during a media session on Wednesday.

“I’m not done. I’ve got so much belief in myself and know what I’m capable of. I believe I was able to show it on the road in Dallas,”  Wilson told reporters.

The former Super Bowl champion threw for 450 yards and three touchdowns against the Cowboys, but had a bad, game-sealing interception in overtime.

After his second sub-200-yard performance in three games, Wilson was benched in favor of rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart.

The 25th overall pick showed tremendous upside in the preseason, with noticeable swagger and a willingness to hit all areas of the field.

The Giants believe he can be their franchise quarterback, so they wasted no time turning to him when the season looked like it was on the brink of disaster.

New York will take on the Los Angeles Chargers this week, so Dart will get a difficult test in his first start. The Giants currently sit at 0-3, and with head coach Brian Daboll on the hot seat, they turn to their rookie to save the season.

Nobody knows what Wilson’s next move will be, but Daboll named Dart the starter for the remainder of the season, so he won’t be playing in New York unless an injury happens.
