It’s a new era for the New York Giants — or rather, a new post-era. With the Giants moving on from Brian Daboll, who they fired on Monday following a Week 10 collapse against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field, the team made offensive coordinator Mike Kafka their interim head coach. Also, the Giants are going with one of their two veteran quarterbacks to start in this coming Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford — and it’s not Russell Wilson.

Instead, the Giants are rolling with Jameis Winston, who was the No. 3 on the QB depth chart of the team heading into the 2025 season. Wilson was New York’s Week 1 starter before three losses in a row led to the Giants deciding to go with rookie signal-caller Jaxson Dart. With Dart in the concussion protocol, New York elected to give the QB1 for now to Winston, who hasn’t attempted a pass yet in the 2025 NFL campaign.

While talking to reporters on Wednesday, the 36-year-old Wilson set the record straight about his desire to continue playing despite getting benched for Dart and being seemingly overtaken on the depth chart by Winston.

“I want to see it through. I haven’t asked for my release or anything like that. I want to be here,” the 10-time Pro Bowler said (via Jordan Raanan of ESPN).

“I still want to keep playing football. I love it, obviously, and I feel like I still got it.”

As for the Packers, they may be struggling on offense of late, but there is no quarterback quandary over in Titletown, with Jordan Love clearly the team’s top option under center.
