Ever since the Denver Broncos made it official that they are releasing quarterback Russell Wilson this offseason, there have been quite a few discussions on the potential landing spot for him. The latest report suggests the Pittsburgh Steelers eye the veteran quarterback in free agency.
Contrary to the rumors suggesting the Steelers are reluctant to replace veteran quarterback Kenny Pickett, CBS Sports lead NFL insider Jonathan Jones stated the franchise is planning to schedule a meeting with Wilson, today before he even enters the free agency market officially.
Steelers Radio Network host Gerry Dulac also confirmed the news, writing, “Steelers are interested in signing Russell Wilson and are tentatively planning to meet with the former Broncos QB before the start of free agency, per sources.”

According to recent reports, despite meeting with the New York Giants, the former Super Bowl champion is more inclined toward the Steelers now that they are equally interested.
With prospects such as Kirk Cousins and Justin Fields potentially in free agency, the reason why the Steelers went ahead with Wilson is because they are not looking for a player to immediately begin as a starter. All they need is a good backup for their starter, the 2022 first-round draft pick, whom earlier they wanted to challenge by signing competitive players. But courtesy of the support of Mike Tomlin, the franchise isn’t looking for someone to replace Pickett instantly.
Besides the Giants and Steelers, there’s also another team eyeing the veteran quarterback as his ties with the Broncos come to an end.
As per Adam Schefter, the mystery third team is the Las Vegas Raiders, who apparently also have a quarterback situation and are possibly setting up a meeting with the 35-year-old quarterback.
This offseason, there are quite a handful of teams in search of quarterback to transform their offensive game or have the potential to do so. Given that, the three teams showing interest in Wilson are outside the top five in the upcoming Draft.
