The New York Giants closed out the 2024 NFL season with a disappointing 3-14 record, finishing last in the NFC East (and the NFL).
In late March, the Giants bolstered their quarterback room by signing 10-time Pro Bowler Russell Wilson to a one-year deal worth $10.5 million fully guaranteed.
The Giants also signed veteran quarterback Jameis Winston to a two-year, $8 million deal and selected Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart with the 25th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft this offseason.
On Thursday, following his official move to New York City, Wilson posted an Instagram photo sitting between Authentic Brands Group CEO Jamie Salter and basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal.
Captioned "The Boys are back in town. @shaq @jamiejsalter," the snap instantly became a talking point among sports fans.
One user said, "Nice Wilson," while another fan responded, "The goat!"
One other commenter said, "❤️ russ," followed up by another fan with, "❤️❤️❤️❤️."
Another user replied, "Turn nothin into something," and one other fan commented, "."
Drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft, Wilson quickly established himself by tying the rookie record for passing touchdowns.
Over his first nine seasons, he led Seattle to two Super Bowls, winning XLVIII, and was named to the Pro Bowl ten times through 2024.
Wilson’s career stats through the end of 2024 include 46,135 passing yards, 350 touchdown passes, a 64.7% completion rate, and a 99.8 career passer rating. He also has 5,462 rushing yards and 31 rushing touchdowns.
Off the field, he earned the Walter Payton Man of the Year award in 2020 and the Bart Starr Award in 2022 for his philanthropic efforts, and he remains a minority owner of MLS’s Seattle Sounders FC.
