As the 2025 NFL Draft concluded just a few weeks ago, there have been a couple of blockbuster moves that teams have made.

With free agents like Keenan Allen and Amari Cooper still available and looking for a place to play for the 2025-26 season, the Dallas Cowboys made a move – one that involved trading for a player from another team.

The Cowboys decided that it was time to make a big splash and called the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pittsburgh agreed to trade wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, the NFL announced on Wednesday morning.

A trade that many believed the Steelers would make either before or during the NFL Draft, Pittsburgh was able to get a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick in exchange for Pickens.

ESPN analyst and ex-Steelers safety Ryan Clark shared what he thought this morning on Get Up.

"Mike Tomlin consistently says he doesn't run from coaching... If George Pickens, with that immense amount of talent, can no longer exist in that locker room, it's going to be difficult for him to exist anywhere," Clark said when speaking on his former team's intentions.

Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin has explained in the past how he hasn't ever ran away from coaching any of his players into the true potential they bring to his team.

With this being said, Tomlin has made moves in the past that have resulted in trading away Steelers receivers.

Pittsburgh made the decision to trade away Diontae Johnson in 2024 and he is now moving on to his fourth team in a year's time.

Tomlin also made the decision to move on from franchise wideout Antonio Brown in 2019 and we all know how Brown's career panned out.

George Pickens was drafted out of the second round (52nd overall) by the Steelers in 2022.

In his three seasons in Pittsburgh, he totaled 174 receptions, 2,841 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns in 48 games played.

He will be heading into his fourth and final year on his rookie contract that he signed with the Steelers after being drafted.

Pickens will add more firepower for quarterback Dak Prescott to a Cowboys offense that includes Ceedee Lamb, Jake Ferguson and newly drafted running back Jaydon Blue.
