Ryan Fitzpatrick, Gardner Minshew exchange facial hair jabs ahead of Week 3 matchup

The battle of the facial hair will take place this week on "Thursday Night Football" between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins. Gardner Minshew and Ryan Fitzpatrick arguably have the best facial hair in all of football, but which quarterback will reign supreme during Week 3?

Fitzpatrick is known for his long beard that can be seen from miles away, while Minshew's mustache has become a fan-favorite in Jacksonville. The Dolphins quarterback, though, doesn't think Minshew's mustache even comes close to his signature beard.

"The mustache vs. the beard, I mean, I think the beard is the cooler look," Fitzpatrick told reporters on Tuesday, via Ben Murphy of the Associated Press. "I think guys that grow mustaches a lot of times have patchy sides for their beards, so they just stick with the mustache. But my wife appreciates the mustache trimmed up a little bit more, but she does hate the beard too. So I guess that's a lose-lose for me."

When Minshew was asked about his opinion following Fitzpatrick's comments, the Jaguars quarterback fired back with a major shot -- taking aim at Fitzpatrick's age.

"I'll let mine speak for itself," Minshew said, via ESPN's Adam Schefter. "But I'm gonna have respect for my elders. Especially when they're much, much elder."

Minshew is 13 years younger than Fitzpatrick, who is 37 years old and will turn 38 in November. While Minshew has completed 75.4 % of his passes for 512 yards and six touchdowns against two interceptions through two games this season, Fitzpatrick isn't doing so well. The Harvard product is 0-2 and has completed 66.2 % of his passes for 519 yards and two touchdowns against three interceptions.

After the barbs exchanged between the two, expect both players to be on their game when they meet at TIAA Bank Field on Thursday.
