Ryan Fitzpatrick Takes Jab at Dolphins QB Over Contentious Jersey Number

The Miami Dolphins are awaiting what will be a consequential draft on Thursday evening, but before that former starting quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick had some strong words directed at new Dolphins quarterback, Zach Wilson

Wilson, who signed from the Denver Broncos last March to become Tua Tagovailoa's backup - for the moment - made an interesting decision to take the number "0" jersey in Miami.

A decision that Fitzpatrick was not thrilled about come Thursday morning, per his X account.

"Hey Zach there’s always time to change your mind", Fitzpatrick posted, "…I know you’re friends with Braxton Berrios and I know it worked for Orlando Woolridge but if you’re trying to build back your career and be taken serious (which I’m sure you are) this won’t help…"

Obviously, a portion of Fitzpatrick's post is in jest - the number on the back of a player's jersey does very little to determine his success in the near future.

There is some abstract truth to the words from "Fitzmagic". "0" is one of those flashy, new-age type numbers that has very little history or depth to it. Something that resonates well in flashy skill positions like cornerback or receiver - or a star edge rusher.

But for a quarterback, it certainly feels a bit wrong and soul-less; there are no legendary quarterbacks to honor or emulate who wore "0".

If Wilson enters the season as the team's QB2, he better make sure that he was right about the "0" choice, because given Tua's vast and difficult injury record, there is a good chance he may be called into action in 2025.
