S Logan Ryan joined Buccaneers 'to win a championship'

Cornerback-turned-safety Logan Ryan is no stranger to Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, as the two earned a pair of Super Bowl rings together with the New England Patriots during Ryan's stint with the organization that lasted from the 2013 NFL Draft through the 2016 season.

It's likely not a coincidence they're reunited.

Shortly after ESPN's Jordan Raanan and others reported last week the New York Giants had released Ryan as part of a painful yet inevitable rebuild, individuals such as Bleacher Report's Tim Daniels noted the 31-year-old had put pen to paper a one-year deal with the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers confirmed the addition of Ryan on Thursday, and he left little doubt about why he chose Tampa Bay as his next destination.

"My goal coming here was to win a championship and that’s what I’m here to do," Ryan explained, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. "The expectation and standard is a championship each and every year, each and every day. I was excited to have an opportunity. That’s what I’m playing for at this point in my career."

Brady has reportedly been busy recruiting multiple available players to join him in Tampa Bay since ending a short-lived retirement, and Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht admitted earlier this week the club "had a lot of faith" the seven-time champion would return for at least one more season.

Whether or not Brady phoned Ryan at any point over the last seven days is unknown, but what can't be questioned is that the veteran defensive back recorded 117 total tackles, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, a sack and eight pass breakups during his final campaign with the Giants.
