The New Orleans Saints had no choice but to bring a few kickers in for a tryout this week. To the surprise of many fans, former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker received a call.
Tucker, a seven-time Pro Bowler, made 417-of-468 field goal attempts during his run with the Ravens from 2012-2024. He was released this past May after the Baltimore Banner reported that 16 massage therapists accused him from sexual misconduct. These alleged incidents took place between 2012-2016.
During this Monday's media availability, Saints head coach Kellen Moore addressed the allegations surrounding Tucker.
"He's been a really good kicker in this league for a really long time, and he's had a ton of success and he's been a leader for Baltimore for a long time," Moore said. "He's been one of their leaders for an extended period of time with a very successful team and so obviously there's been some stuff that's been unfortunate. He's gone through an experience, and I think it's about collecting what that experience was, and we'll evaluate the football aspect of it and we'll evaluate everything else as well."
Despite his success over the past decade, Tucker isn't expected to join the Saints in Week 13.
According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, the Saints are signing kicker Cade York to their practice squad.
York, a former fourth-round pick from LSU, kicked for the Washington Commanders and Cincinnati Bengals in 2024. He made 9-of-13 attempts last season.
As of now, York is expected to kick for the Saints this Sunday when they take on the Miami Dolphins.
The Saints are hoping to get much better production from their kicking game. Blake Grupe went 18-of-26 before getting cut this Tuesday.
