Saints' Cameron Jordan offers bold Derek Carr take

New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan wants quarterback Derek Carr to finish the upcoming season where he played his final home game as a member of the Las Vegas Raiders.

"I expect a Super Bowl," Jordan said during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio, per Nick Shook of the league's website. "I expect to take Derek Carr, DC4, back to Vegas where he just left and have a return run at the Super Bowl."

Super Bowl LVIII in February 2024 will occur at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Raiders.

Carr, of course, first joined the Raiders as a second-round draft pick in 2014 but was benched by head coach Josh McDaniels in late December. The 32-year-old ultimately received his release and then signed with the Saints via a four-year contract reportedly worth up to $150M with $100M in total guarantees and $70M fully guaranteed at signing.

The four-time Pro Bowl selection indicated there are no hard feelings about how his Las Vegas tenure ended when he recently said he laments that Raiders coaches and players "just didn’t get my best" during what became his final season with the organization. As for Jordan, his goals seemingly have little to do with Carr possibly earning a bit of revenge by hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy with the Saints inside the Raiders' stadium.

"Nobody has ever walked into a season (and) been like, 'Oh, I hope we win 10 games,'" Jordan explained. "No, I'm trying to win each and every game that we play. My expectation is being 21-0, 22-0, whatever it takes to get to a Super Bowl. I want to beat each and every team we line across...The mentality is, we want to as a defense take over each and every game. And there's no allowance to be like, 'Hey, I think we could be a 12-5 team.' I think we can win each and every one of these things."

The Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers have embraced youth movements, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are hosting a summer quarterback competition between veteran Baker Mayfield and 2021 second-round draft pick Kyle Trask. Meanwhile, OddsChecker listed the Saints as the betting favorites to win the NFC South title at +135 odds as of early Wednesday afternoon.
