Saints HC Dennis Allen embarrasses himself again

New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen is certainly on the hot seat if you ask most fans of the team. He has defended quarterback Derek Carr all season, and that did not stop on Friday before Week 14.

Carr addressed the booing from the Saints' home crowd from last week. Those jeers were clearly directed towards Carr and the offense. Allen feels like they were unfortunate and misguided.

“It was unfortunate because I think Derek has probably played better than some on the outside might think.” -- Saints HC Dennis Allen

The booing was a strong statement from Saints fans. Even general manager Mickey Loomis felt that way when asked about them earlier in the week.

At the same time, going down 21-0 in the first eight minutes of play is unacceptable for a team that is playing for their playoff lives. That's what New Orleans did in Week 13, and their fan base let them hear it.

Additionally, Carr has not played well enough this season. His contract is a pricey one, and you could argue that he has not been a top 20 QB in the NFL this season. Carr is 27th in pass touchdown rate, 18th in passer rating, and 22nd in ESPN's QB rating

Overall, he has been disappointing - along with the rest of the Saints this season. That's led them to a 5-7 record against the weakest schedule in the league.

Allen has shown that he refuses to turn on Carr or place increased pressure on him. He did both of those in minor ways last season with Jameis Winston at QB.

It's a bit unacceptable from a coach that is also feeling heat due to the Saints' struggles.
