The New Orleans Saints need improvement from their quarterback after an inconsistent year one in the black and gold.
There's one major question regarding the Saints' new offense. How will Derek Carr perform? It's possible that it takes him time to settle in, along with his teammates, in the system. New Orleans cannot waste time in the regular season with a tough early slate of games, though.
Derek Carr has looked great in this offense all summer long

Nice job at the end of practice by Derek Carr to lead a TD drive. Hit Taysom Hill three consecutive times and connected with Alvin Kamara for the go-ahead TD from about 25 yards out.

#Saints QB Derek Carr ended practice 6/6 including a TD and 2-point conversion in an end of game simulation.

TD to Alvin Kamara (about 25 yard pass down left sideline.)
2-Pt to Rashid Shaheed on what looked like a quick out.
Underhill does not sugarcoat what he sees from the Saints. You can trust that he's being honest about Carr's recent performances.

Shaheed is seemingly a piece to the puzzle that the Saints will use more often in 2024. He's a dynamic athlete that was not used to the best of his abilities under former OC Pete Carmichael Jr. in recent seasons.
This season and beyond, Kubiak will use him in more unique ways. That will include getting him the ball in space and behind the line of scrimmage more often.
If you watched the San Francisco 49ers over the past two seasons, think of the usage of Deebo Samuel. Shaheed does not have the ceiling of physical ability that Samuel possesses, but his explosiveness and smooth moves with the ball in his hands can be a game changer for the offense.
For Shaheed to succeed, Carr must take another step forward from his 2023 performance. The Saints quarterback played goo football in the second half of last season when he was most healthy. Don't tell the fans that already have their pitchforks out for him, though.
Regardless, Carr is the most important part of the Saints offense. Looking comfortable in the team's new offense this early on in the offseason is a great sign.
