Waivers are always intriguing once the roster cut down happens around the NFL. For the New Orleans Saints, they added wide receiver Trey Palmer and Xavier Truss recently after they were let go from their respective teams earlier in the week.
The Saints also tried to claim a defensive back who would've been a nice addition to the roster. They fell short in that quest, but it was not for a lack of trying by New Orleans.
The Saints reportedly put in a waiver claim for former Ravens defensive back Jalyn Armour-Davis. Unfortunately, they did not hold the highest priority in the NFL. That position was held by the Tennessee Titans, who also put in a claim for the young defender. With that, Armour-Davis is joining Tennessee's roster.

For New Orleans, Armour-Davis would have immediately competed for a starting spot in the secondary. It is fair to assume Kool-Aid McKinstry will start at one outside CB spot. Meanwhile, Isaac Yiadom, a veteran option, is the projected starter at the other spot.
In the slot, Alontae Taylor holds down that role but is nursing an injury. He could miss Week 1 against Arizona, but that hasn't been determined quite yet. He avoided being placed on PUP, which is a good sign - at the least. Armour-Davis could have jumped into the nickel position if Taylor missed time, but Ugo Amadi is the top candidate to fill the role in that situation as of now. Amadi had an impressive campaign in the preseason and locked up a roster spot relatively quickly.
Regardless, the Titans' massive struggles a season ago helped them land the defender for their depth chart. We will see if h e can carve out a role for Tennessee or not. As for the Saints, they are relying on plenty of young talent to make plays on the back end of Brandon Staley's defense.
