The NFL offseason program dates were announced on Thursday morning. The New Orleans Saints' workout dates over the next several months are here.
The Saints were actually allowed to being their offseason program on Apr. 7 because they have a new head coach in Kellen Moore, but won't get started until the week after. That does make sense, as the team is heavy into the draft process currently. Moore said at the annual league meetings that the coaches and scouting staff were getting together to compare evaluations. Plus, they have Top-30 visits ongoing.
New Orleans will also have a three-day post-draft rookie minicamp at the beginning of May, which could be either May 2-5 or May 9-12. That's also when a lot of players will tryout for the team in hopes of securing a spot leading up to training camp. The media should get access to a few of those sessions, and May also will see the Saints have their annual celebrity golf classic event.
Moore also said in Florida that the plan is for the Saints to have the bulk of training camp back in Metairie this year, but will explore options for joint practices. They spent last summer in California and returned home to have a couple of sessions for fans at Tulane Stadium and the Superdome. It's unclear if fans will be able to watch any OTA sessions or minicamp practices, so stay tuned.
