Saints Poach Rookie DT PJ Mustipher Off Broncos Practice Squad
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

PJ Mustipher is changing hats — and conferences.

Mustipher, an undrafted rookie defensive tackle, has been poached from the Denver Broncos practice squad and signed to the New Orleans Saints' active roster, the team announced Wednesday.

Denver filled his spot on the practice squad by signing rookie linebacker Durell Nchami in a corresponding move.

Mustipher joined the Broncos following the 2023 NFL draft. The 6-foot-4, 318-pound nose guard appeared in each of the club's preseason games, registering four solo tackles, before being released in late August and brought back via the taxi squad.

A two-time All-Big Ten selection at Penn State, Mustipher heads to the Big Easy where he'll help ease the loss of Saints DT Malcolm Roach, who was placed on injured reserve.

Mustipher's departure leaves the Broncos with three defensive linemen on its practice team (Tyler Lancaster, Jordan Jackson, Haggai Chisom Ndubuisi). They're currently carrying six DL on the active roster: starters Zach Allen, D.J. Jones and Jonathan Harris, and backups Mike Purcell, Matt Henningsen, and Elijah Garcia.

With four sacks and seven tackles-for-loss, Allen is the highest-rated performer of the bunch, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 22 interior defender among 126 qualifers entering Week 14.
