One young New Orleans Saints fan received a surprise she’ll probably remember for a long time.

The Saints are preparing for one of their biggest home games of the season Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons, but the organization made sure one special fan will be inside the Superdome to experience it.

Nora, the Saints’ Scholar Athlete of the Week, was surprised with tickets to Monday Night Football.

That wasn’t all.

Saints defensive lineman Khristian Boyd helped deliver the news with a special video message before Nora learned she would be attending the game.

The Saints shared the moment on social media Sunday night, adding another feel-good story to what already promises to be an emotional evening in New Orleans.

Saints Surprise Scholar Athlete Of The Week

The Scholar Athlete program recognizes young athletes for accomplishments that extend beyond what they do during games.

Nora thought she was simply being recognized. Then came Boyd’s message. And then came the tickets.

Her reaction told the rest of the story.

Instead of watching the Falcons-Saints rivalry from home, Nora will get an opportunity to experience a particularly meaningful Monday night inside Caesars Superdome.

This isn’t just another prime-time game in New Orleans.

The Saints are commemorating the 20th anniversary of their historic return to the Superdome following Hurricane Katrina. That 2006 game also came against Atlanta on Monday Night Football.

Special Night Planned In New Orleans

The Saints have planned an extensive celebration surrounding Monday’s game. The organization will honor the historic reopening of the Superdome and the role the night played in the city’s recovery following Hurricane Katrina.

Former Saints players, local music icons and other people connected to the 2006 game are expected to be part of the celebration.

Fans also will receive commemorative towels placed throughout the stadium. Now Nora will get to experience it in person.

It’s a relatively small gesture compared to everything happening around Monday night’s game, but that’s what makes moments like this fun.

Football provides plenty of touchdowns, rivalries and memorable performances. Sometimes it can also give a young athlete a night she’ll never forget.
