The New Orleans Saints have been tabbed as a potential landing spot for former No. 2 overall pick, Carson Wentz.

The former Philadelphia Eagles starter has bounced around a bit since his five-year stint in Philly ended in 2020, and he's still yet to be signed after his contract with the Kansas City Chiefs expired at the end of last year.

The Saints could look to add a veteran quarterback to the mix before this offseason is said and done. Right now, their quarterback room consists of Tyler Shough, the No. 40 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener and Hunter Dekkers. These four have started a combined seven games in the NFL, so a veteran presence would be very welcome.

There are a few options the Saints could look into. Jameis Winston might be available if the New York Giants are open to trading him, Teddy Bridgewater is available after coming out of retirement midseason, but Carson Wentz might be the best option available.

I think if the Saints look to add a veteran, it needs to be one that is willing to ride the bench and help coach up some of these young guys. Wentz has a ton of experience and was on pace to win the MVP in 2017 before a torn ACL ended his season prematurely. He's been to a couple Super Bowls, and although he hasn't played in one, he knows what it takes to get there and what a winning organization looks like.

Wentz could be a good option for the Saints if they want to add another QB to their roster, I just hope that they don't start a veteran over one of the young QBs they have and believe in. Getting guys like Tyler Shough or Spencer Rattler reps this year should be the first priority, but bringing someone in who can help develop them and step in if needed would be nice.
