Saints, Vikings, Announce Personnel Moves Prior to Week 10 Matchup
USA TODAY Sports

According to John Hendrix of the Saints News Network, the New Orleans Saints are waiving WR Keith Kirkwood and are activating RB Adam Prentice from injured reserve. These moves were made on Saturday in advance of the team's Week 10 game at the Minnesota Vikings.

Prentice, 26, is in his third season with the Saints. Used mostly as a situational blocking back, he has eight career rushing attempts and seven career receptions for a total of 49 yards. He's had two touches for six yards from scrimmage in five games this year, including a costly fumble in a Week 4 loss to Tampa Bay.

Prentice has missed the last five games with a knee injury. In his absence, the Saints have used DT Khalen Saunders as a blocking back in goal-line situations.

Kirkwood, 28, has been on and off the Saints roster since entering the league as an undrafted rookie with the team in 2018. He has 20 career receptions for 258 yards and two scores, including one catch for one yard this season.

Kirkwood has been a healthy scratch for the Saints the last two weeks. New Orleans has instead gone with Lynn Bowden Jr. and rookie sixth-round pick A.T. Perry as depth behind Chris Olave, Michael Thomas, and Rashid Shaheed.

NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero also reported on Saturday that the Vikings will not activate All-Pro WR Justin Jefferson from injured reserve to play against the Saints. This was expected news, even though Jefferson resumed practice in a limited capacity this week. Pelissero also announced that the Vikings are elevating LB Nick Vigil from the practice squad onto the active roster.

The Vikings will be without Jefferson in addition to starting QB Kirk Cousins and RB Cam Akers, both out for the year. Minnesota starters TE T.J. Hockenson (ribs) and DE Dean Lowry (groin) are listed as game-time decisions to play against the Saints. New Orleans declared RB Kendre Miller (ankle) and DE Isaiah Foskey (quad) out for Sunday's game.

Kickoff between the Saints and Vikings, both 5-4, will be at noon Central Time. The full inactive report will be available from John Hendrix of the Saints News Network about 90 minutes before kickoff.
