The San Francisco 49ers are signing veteran wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown, per ESPN reporter Nick Wagoner.
#49ers are signing WR Equanimeous St. Brown after a tryout on Monday. Gives them a little depth at a time with plenty of questions in that room.

St. Brown tried out for the team on Monday, and impressed enough to earn a contract. The 49ers have a lot of question marks at the WR position, as Brandon Aiyuk continues to recover from a torn ACL and MCL that he suffered last season, and Jauan Jennings seeks a new contract.
It appears that San Francisco will need to prepare to be without Aiyuk to begin the regular season. While speaking to the media on Tuesday, John Lynch stated that Aiyuk is nowhere close to having a concrete timeline on his return.
San Francisco GM John Lynch told reporters today that 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk currently is “not anywhere close to having a concrete timeline” to return from the knee injury suffered last season.

Just last month, Lynch told the Pat McAfee Show that Aiyuk is doing a tremendous job in his recovery. While that may be, it doesn't necessarily mean that he'll be back anytime soon. Aiyuk recorded 25 receptions for 374 yards before going down in Week 7 of 2024. If he can rejoin the team around midseason, he could give the Niners a boost in the playoff race.
Kyle Shanahan gave us an update on Jennings, telling Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle that Jennings has not requested to be traded despite being unhappy with his current contract.

Jennings is entering the final year of his deal and is scheduled to make $7.5 million in 2025. He had a breakout season in 2024, catching 77 passes on 113 targets for 975 yards and six touchdowns. Jennings received a two-year extension last offseason, but is looking to capitalize off his career year.
He does not plan to hold out of training camp, so the Niners may not be in a rush to extend him. However, if no other WRs on the roster step up, it would be in their best interest to keep Jennings around long-term. The timeline of Aiyuk's recovery will also play a major factor.
