Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is soon set to be with his fourth team as he is set to be a free agent this off-season. According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the San Francisco 49ers have an interest in signing Mayfield.

Any quarterback in Kyle Shanahan's offense is going to have a chance at succeeding, especially with the number of playmakers they deploy on the offense. The biggest question for the 49ers continues to be the quarterback position. Brock Purdy is set to be on the shelf while recovering from an injury, while the bounty is still out on Trey Lance and what he could be.

Ideally, the 49ers would like to grab Mayfield to be their backup or at least battle for that opportunity. The potential to play could be there if Shanahan thinks he is that far along within their offense.

After being the No. 1 overall pick for the Browns in the 2018 NFL Draft, Mayfield threw for 92 touchdowns and 56 interceptions over four seasons in Cleveland. He totaled 14,125 passing yards on 61 percent passing, the yards are fourth in Browns history.

Between 10 starts with the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams, after Cleveland released him, Mayfield threw 10 touchdowns to eight interceptions.

It will be interesting to see where the former Heisman Trophy winner ends up next.
