San Francisco 49ers Receive Surprising NFL Trade Deadline Prediction

Even with a rash of critical injuries derailing their 2025 campaign, the San Francisco 49ers have kept expectations high for a blockbuster acquisition ahead of the trade cutoff.

This week’s pickup of defensive end Keion White from the Patriots offers depth, yet few expect him to shift the balance dramatically.

The glaring hole remains on the edge, where Nick Bosa’s torn ACL in September and Bryce Huff’s Week 7 hamstring pull have gutted the pass rush. Sunday’s collapse against Houston—475 total yards surrendered, including 318 through the air—underscored the urgency in a 26-15 defeat.

With the NFL trade deadline looming Tuesday, November 4, ESPN insider Dan Graziano believes more activity is imminent.

“I know they’ve been calling around about pass-rush help, and they’ve been known to be active and creative at the deadline in past years. I’m feeling confident they’ll do something beyond what they’ve already done.”

San Francisco has a proven track record of bold October moves. Three seasons back, they landed running back Christian McCaffrey from Carolina; two years ago, they pried edge rusher Chase Young—the second overall pick in 2020—from Washington in a late-month swap.

On the eve of the current season, they added running back Brian Robinson Jr. to bolster a backfield leaning heavily on McCaffrey’s heavy workload.

The player dominating every 49ers conversation is Cincinnati’s Trey Hendrickson. Trade whispers have swirled around the elite sack artist for months, with San Francisco repeatedly linked as a suitor—though the asking price may stretch their assets thin.

Remarkably, despite losing Bosa, Huff, linebacker Fred Warner, quarterback Brock Purdy, tight end George Kittle, receiver Ricky Pearsall and others to the training room, the 49ers sit at 5-3, just half a game off the NFC West lead shared by Seattle and the Rams.

Next up: a trip to MetLife Stadium against the Giants this Sunday, followed by a pivotal home clash with Los Angeles on November 9.
