The San Francisco 49ers head into the 2024 season with one of the most talented rosters in the NFL. They are trying to make another run at a Super Bowl after heartbreak in the last three years. They are about to add more talent to their roster. Reports indicate former Washington Commanders tight end Logan Thomas is signing with the 49ers.

The San Francisco 49ers already have one of the best tight ends in the league, George Kittle. However, that is not stopping them from bringing in Logan Thomas. Thomas was a fourth-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and spent the first part of his career with the Commanders. Before that, he bounced around the league. He was a quarterback in college and needed some time to settle into the tight-end role.
The 2020 season is when Logan Thomas put it all together. He had 72 receptions, 670 yards, and six touchdowns and looked like a promising player at the position. Injuries have been the issue for the veteran tight end, but he goes to a team where he will not be the focal point of the offense. He could do some real damage in limited snaps.
The stage is set once again for the San Francisco 49ers to make a Super Bowl run. They have Brock Purdy under center, who proved last season that he is not a fluke. Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk have been in trade talks but are still on the roster. Christian McCaffrey is arguably the best dual-threat running back in the league. This is just the offense. Nick Bosa and Fred Warner lead a top-tier defense.
The San Francisco 49ers have it all, but in the past three years, they have not been able to seal the deal. The NFC is wide open with very few top teams. San Francisco should have no issues making the playoffs, but they have to show that they can win when it matters most.
