Saquon Barkley gets 'slimed' for Eagles debut

Too bad it wasn’t Kelly Green. Philadelphia's Saquon Barkley has made a career of eluding would-be tacklers but the veteran running back couldn't avoid being slimed after an impressive Week 1 performance.

Barkley averaged 4.5 yards per carry for 109 yards and two scores with another touchdown through the air against the Green Bay Packers to open the season, something that didn’t go unnoticed by the good people at Nickelodeon.

As part of the network’s “NFL Slimetime” program, Barkley was named the NVP of Week 1, beating out quarterbacks Josh Allen (271 total yards, four touchdowns) and Baker Mayfield (289 passing yards, four touchdowns) for the prestigious award.

For his efforts, Barkley received a trophy featuring an orange Nickelodeon blimp before being covered with the network’s signature green slime. Barkley’s daughter, Jada, had the honor of sliming her dad and didn't seem to mind getting a bit on herself after hugging her famous father.

In related news, Barkley was also named NFC Offensive Player of the Week after his Eagles debut but we seriously doubt Jada responded to that news with such enthusiasm.

Barkley's Eagles will host the Atlanta Falcons on Monday, Sept. 16, at 8:15 p.m. ET.
