Saquon Barkley just exposed A.J. Brown’s leadership problem without even trying

The Philadelphia Eagles entered this season as the team to beat after winning Super Bowl 59, and why wouldn't they? Their roster is stacked across both sides of the line of scrimmage. But the Eagles aren't winning "pretty," so to speak.

On Sunday, the Eagles defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-23 to extend their record to 4-0. But i the game, the Eagles offense tallied just 200 yards on 58 plays. Quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 15-of-24 pass attempts for 130 yards and two touchdowns. No receiver recorded more than 40 yards.

After the game, star receiver A.J. Brown posted a cryptic message on Twitter, hinting at frustration after a quiet performance. Brown was targeted nine times, yet hauled in just two of them for seven yards. This isn't a new thing for Brown, as he has done this multiple times throughout his Eagles tenure. Even during those multiple occasions expressing frustrations with the lack of targets, he still remained with the team and even showed up in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Saquon Barkley let it be known that wins are way more important than individual statistics.

Saquon Barkley says he likes wins, not statistics after Eagles improve to 4-0

After the game, Barkley spoke with reporters, and it was brought up that the offense put up just 200 yards. Barkley said he doesn't care about 200 yards, he cares about the team being 4-0.

“I like winning football games and I don’t care what it looks like,” Barkley said, h/t Jeff Neiburg of The Inquirer. “Whether it’s me rushing for 20 yards or rushing for 200 yards. Whatever it takes. I don’t care if the score is 6-3 or 36-4. We’re 4-0. But, again, the way we played in the second half this week and the first half last week, especially on offense, we’re going to have a hard time winning football games.”

Let's not forget that Barkley has seen a lot of losing football during his time with the New York Giants. Even if he put up huge numbers, the Giants rarely won games, except in the 2022 season, when they advanced to the NFC Divisional Round. But in his first year with the Eagles, he won a Super Bowl title while putting up ridiculous, video game-type numbers.

This year, the Eagles have a new offensive coordinator in Kevin Patullo, who takes over for Kellen Moore after he left to become the head coach of the New Orleans Saints. The offense is underperforming, that's for sure, as evidenced by their average of 251.5 yards per game. Yet, they are averaging 27.0 points, which ranks near the top of the NFL. So even if the yards aren't there, the offense is still putting up points.

Barkley isn't panicking too much about the lack of yardage, because the team is still winning.
