Saquon Barkley won the first Super Bowl of his career when the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl 59. And in the wake of the biggest victory of his career, Barkley received a strong message of support from his sister, Aliyah, on social media.
After dominating through the first three games of the playoffs, the Chiefs locked up Barkley, holding him to just 97 total yards on 31 total touches (25 carries, six receptions). And while Philadelphia managed to win this game, Barkley acknowledged after the confetti had fallen that KC did everything they could to slow him down.
"We knew that the focus would be on the run game and we took advantage of it," Barkley said. "We took advantage of it in the pass game. Jalen [Hurts] came out, played big and it took a team effort. Coaches, everyone in the Eagles organization, it takes all of us."
This game meant a lot for Barkley, especially considering his family was in attendance to watch him play. That included his sister Aliyah, who sent a strong seven-word message to her brother after he made it to the top of the mountain in the NFL.
"Cheering so loud and proud for SB!" Aliyah said in a post on Instagram.
Barkley put together one of the greatest seasons for a running back in NFL history with Philly in 2024. He racked up 2,005 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns in 16 regular season games, before adding another 499 yards on the ground and five scores to help power the Eagles to this championship.
As Aliyah's message shows, Saquon's family is quite proud of him for achieving such a big accomplishment in his first season with Philadelphia. The celebration is on for this team after their big win, but before you know it, they will turn their attention to 2025, where they will look to defend their title.
