The "seven hours of commercial-free football" host could be making a big move to a major network.
"NFL RedZone" personality Scott Hanson's contract with the NFL expired after the 2024 season. Auspiciously, Hanson happened to have made a strong impression with his role in NBCUniversal and Peacock’s Paris Olympic coverage last summer.
Hanson is now reportedly in talks with NBC Sports to come onboard for both Olympics and NFL coverage.
According to sources, the 53-year-old would return as "Gold Zone's" primary prime-time host for the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics and potentially the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.
“Scott brought his inimitable enthusiasm and energy to Gold Zone. NFL fans loved watching him transfer his ‘all-in’ mentality from football Sundays to the Paris Olympics,” NBC Olympic production president Molly Solomon told Front Office Sports. “Each of our four hosts brought his own unique personality to the show, and Scott was certainly a key contributor to our process of re-imagining how Gold Zone could be experienced and consumed going forward.”

While Hanson remains in talks to renew a contract with NFL Media, where he has hosted "NFL Red Zone" since its inaugural season in 2009, conversations have reportedly stalled, leaving the door open for NBC Sports. The primary factor behind the delay are the ongoing negotiations for ESPN to overtake both NFL Media and "NFL Red Zone."
Hanson would help fill NBC's ambitious plans for the 2026 Milan Winter Olympics. Both "Gold Zone" and Multiview will be back along with a night broadcast titled "Primetime in Milan" to cover the biggest headlines across the games.
