The ink isn't even dry on the Khosla family's purchase of the Seattle Seahawks and they're already throwing a few curveballs as to how the leadership structure will be under their leadership.

According to NFL insider Mark Maske, it will not be billionaire Vinod Khosla serving as the controlling owner of the reigning Super Bowl champions. Instead, Khosla's wife Neeru, will serve in the role. Their son Neal will also have a "significant leadership role."

"Vinod Khosla's wife Neeru Khosla, an educator and entrepreneur, 'would serve as the controlling owner' of the Seahawks if the deal is ratified, according to the NFL’s memo to teams," Maske wrote on X. "Their son Neal Khosla 'would be expected to have a significant leadership role in the ownership group,' the NFL wrote in the memo. He is the chief executive officer of Curai, an artificial intelligence healthcare company."

The Khosla Family

Vinod Khosla is best known for co-founding Sun Microsystems in 1982 and later becoming one of Silicon Valley's most successful investors. After helping build Sun into a computing powerhouse, Khosla joined Kleiner Perkins, where he backed transformative technology companies including Juniper Networks, Excite, and Cerent.

In 2004, he founded Khosla Ventures, which has invested in hundreds of startups spanning artificial intelligence, healthcare, fintech, robotics, clean energy, and enterprise software. The firm has been an early investor in companies such as OpenAI, DoorDash, Stripe, Block (formerly Square), and Okta, cementing Khosla's reputation as one of the technology industry's most influential venture capitalists.

Khosla has also expanded into professional sports ownership. In 2025, the Khosla family acquired a minority ownership stake in the San Francisco 49ers as part of a group of Bay Area investors purchasing a non-controlling interest in the franchise.

Neeru Khosla holds a master's degree in molecular biology from San Jose State and a master's degree in education from Stanford. She is the co-founder and chair of the CK-12 Foundation, a non-profit that works to increase access to low-cost K-12 education. She is also a member of the Wikimedia Foundation advisory board and a board member on the American India Foundation and DonorsChoose.

Their priority - as far as the fans are concerned - will be to stay well away from the football operations, which are running smoothly under the leadership of general manager John Schneider, head coach Mike Macdonald and quarterback Sam Darnold.
