Seahawks' Bobby Wagner: Russell Wilson drama 'overblown,' 'water under the bridge'

Anybody with inside information wants outsiders to know there's no longer any drama involving Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and those running the organization.

The one-time Super Bowl champion quarterback may have found himself frustrated with the team's offense during the offseason but declared last month he and head coach Pete Carroll are "still friends." On Friday, six-time First-Team All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner attempted to pour cold water over any rumors regarding Wilson's alleged unhappiness.

"I think, honestly, it's part of how the league works. If you lose and don't go to the big game, they always try to figure out what went wrong, what happened," Wagner told Nate Davis of USA Today. "And so I think after Russell made a couple of those comments, I think it was an opportunity for a lot of people to run with it.

"I definitely feel like it was a little overblown, but it's all water under the bridge now."

Wilson, Carroll and Seahawks general manager John Schneider have all downplayed stories linking the quarterback with a potential exit from the club, but CBS Sports' Adam Schein and ESPN's Jeremy Fowler are among analysts not buying what the trio has been selling.

Perhaps Wagner will convince doubters everything is just fine in the Pacific Northwest.
