Seahawks' Jamal Adams won't face discipline for sideline altercation with concussion doctor

Seattle Seahawks veteran safety Jamal Adams won't face a suspension or fine following an uncomfortable sideline altercation with an independent concussion doctor on Monday.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, following a review of the incident, the NFL decided discipline wasn't necessary. Adams' apology earlier in the week also reportedly affected the decision.

Adams suffered a concussion during the Seahawks' Week 4 "Monday Night Football" tilt against the New York Giants. After being evaluated on the sidelines and told he was out of the game, Adams shouted angrily at the doctor who examined him before members of the Seahawks separated the two.

Several days after the incident, Adams apologized via social media, stating that the doctor "did everything right."

The NFL probably made the right call, deciding against discipline for Adams. The Seahawks safety had just suffered a concussion after his helmet made contact with the knee of Giants quarterback Daniel Jones and he wasn't himself. Also, a symptom of a head injury is erratic behavior, which Adams displayed and may have had no control over at the time.

Adams hasn't had much luck in recent season debuts. He went down with a season-ending leg injury in Week 1 last fall, one which kept him out of action until Monday's contest against the Giants. Luckily for Adams, the Seahawks have an early bye and are off for Week 5, giving him extra time to recover.

On Tuesday, head coach Pete Carroll told Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times that Adams would "be fine," which at least keeps the door open for a return in time for the Seahawks next matchup in Week 6 at the Cincinnati Bengals.
