Seahawks make surprising decision on Joe Mixon
USA TODAY Sports via Reuters Connect

The Seattle Seahawks reportedly aren’t bringing in veteran running back Joe Mixon after all.

A report surfaced on Monday that the Seahawks agreed to sign Mixon , but ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted on Tuesday that the team changed its mind after the veteran underwent a physical.

Jat Glazer mentioned on Sunday that Seattle was bringing in Mixon for a workout, which made sense considering the injuries to the RB room.

The plan was that Mixon would join the practice squad, but there appears to be an issue during his medicals that has led Seattle to change its mind.

Mixon’s last NFL game came with the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round on Jan. 18, 2025. He has since dealt with a mysterious injury that sidelined him for all of 2025, and the Texans ended up releasing him this offseason.

On Monday, the Seahawks added Robert Henry Jr. off the Washington Commanders’ practice squad, and that move came just hours after the Mixon deal surfaced.

So, Joe Mixon’s time with Seattle ends even before he puts pen to paper, and it remains to be seen if the veteran will get another NFL opportunity.
