The Seattle Seahawks have found their new quarterback.

After trading Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders in a surprising move to start off the offseason, the Seahawks did not waste time finding his replacement.

Soon after the NFL free agency legal tampering window opened, Seattle made a splash. Sam Darnold was signed to a huge three-year, $100.5 million contract.

Following his impressive 2024 season with the Minnesota Vikings, Darnold will now look to help get the Seahawks back to the playoffs.

Seattle has gone through major changes this offseason already. In addition to the Smith trade and Darnold signing, the Seahawks have released longtime wide receiver Tyler Lockett and traded star wideout DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Colin Cowherd spoke out about Darnold during a segment of his show on Wednesday. He also made a bold prediction for Seattle's new starting quarterback.

A major prediction was made for Darnold. Cowherd guaranteed that the new starter will outperform what Smith provided for the Seahawks in 2024.

"Darnold will do better than 21 TDs and 15 INTs next year," Cowherd stated confidently.

James Palmer, and NFL insider, also provided a strong take about Darnold and the Seahawks. He thinks Seattle is in a great position.

"You build the best team AROUND a quarterback and you try to not pay a quarterback top-dollar -- and the Seahawks are in that position now," Palmer said.

Darnold is coming off of a 2024 season with the Vikings that saw him throw for 4,319 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while completing 66.2% of his passes.
