Seahawks receiver challenges Dolphins receiver to high-speed battle

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf is tired of waiting to prove that he -- and not Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill -- is the NFL's fastest player

Metcalf called out Hill for avoiding his challenge during a Wednesday episode of FS1's "Undisputed."

"I've been trying to come to an agreement for two years," Metcalf said. "You seen me running in a track meet. I didn't run in no race against no 30-year-olds. I raced against some real track and field athletes. Whenever you want to do that and hop on a track, let me know."

Metcalf was referring to his respectable last-place time of 10.37 seconds logged during the 100-meter dash at the 2021 USATF Golden Games. In March, Hill won the 60-meter sprint in the 25-29 age bracket at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships with a time of 6.7 seconds.

Hill, nicknamed Cheetah, didn't take the jab lightly and quickly responded on Twitter.

"Hold him in the studio until I get there, he John Cena Jr," Hill wrote.

Metcalf claims Hill's camp is trying to set up the race in July, which is too close to training camp. Hence why no race has yet been scheduled.

If the receivers do race, neither Pro Bowler has a clear edge. Hill reportedly ran a 4.29 40-yard dash at West Alabama's Pro Day in 2016. Metcalf ran a 4.33 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine in 2019. While Hill (5-foot-10, 191 pounds) is more agile than Metcalf, the Seattle wideout should have a longer stride given that he is taller (6-foot-4, 236 pounds).

Regardless, Hill and Metcalf should make it happen, because it's a high-speed clash fans would love to see and one which would settle an intense debate.
