Seahawks safety Jamal Adams to undergo offseason shoulder surgery

Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams promised to play Saturday's wild-card round matchup against the Los Angeles Rams despite his injuries. But he might have done more harm than good in the 30-20 loss to L.A.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Adams played Saturday's game with a torn labrum in his left shoulder that will require surgery to fix. He also might need surgery on his right shoulder and plans to have surgery on the fingers on his left hand.

Adams tore the labrum in his left shoulder during Week 17 against the San Francisco 49ers. He wore a harness to protect the injury and finished with four tackles and three pass breakups against the Rams.

The 25-year-old missed four games earlier in the season with a groin injury and injured his right shoulder in November but played through it.

In 12 regular-season games, Adams recorded a career-high 9.5 sacks, one forced fumble, 59 solo tackles, 11 tackles for a loss and 14 quarterback hits. He has one year remaining on his rookie contract and was asked about the possibility of signing a long-term deal with the Seahawks after the game, per the Seattle Times.

“That’s something that is out of my hands right now,” Adams said. “I love being a Seattle Seahawk. I love being a part of this organization. So when that time comes, it comes, but I’m worried about getting healthy right now.”
