Seahawks Star in Disbelief Over Geno Smith-Raiders Trade

The Las Vegas Raiders stunned the football world on Friday when they traded a third-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks for quarterback Geno Smith. While not a top-flight player at this point in his career, Smith is more than serviceable and should be the best Raider under center since Rich Gannon.

Smith was seemingly beloved by his teammates in Seattle and contributed more than just what was shown on the stat sheet. Young star defender Tariq Woolen weighed in on the trade on social media, and the former Pro Bowl cornerback appeared unhappy with the news. He first posted a message accompanied by a crying emoji and followed it up with a gif of someone punching the air, indicating his frustration.

In the five seasons that Smith spent with the Seahawks, four of them were under now-Raiders head coach Pete Carroll. When Seattle hired Mike MacDonald as their head coach, Smith regressed a bit, but he should improve this season when reunited with his former coach. In the two seasons with Carroll at the helm, Smith was a two-time Pro Bowler and won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award in 2022.

Woolen's posts on social media could indicate that the trade was not supported by the players in the locker room. Smith is considered to be a great leader, and whatever it is that his teammates in Seattle will miss about him, Raider Nation should be hoping he brings to Las Vegas.
