Seahawks to add veteran offensive lineman

The Seattle Seahawks are reuniting with an old friend in hopes of adding some offensive line help.

The Seahawks are expected to sign veteran left tackle Jason Peters to their practice squad, NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero reported on Tuesday.

Seattle is dealing with some injuries to its offensive line; George Fant was placed on injured reserve, and Abe Lucas is also out. The addition of Peters should give Seattle some more depth.

The 42-year-old Peters began his NFL career with the Buffalo Bills in 2004 and made two Pro Bowls with the AFC team. Then, he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles and played for them from 2009-2020 (he missed one season due to an Achilles injury).

Peters spent the 2021 season with the Chicago Bears and 2022 with the Dallas Cowboys. This will be his second straight season with the Seahawks, for whom he played eight games last season and made two starts.

Peters has made nine Pro Bowls during his NFL career and was named first-team All-Pro twice. The Seahawks are 3-1 following Monday’s loss to the Lions.
