Seahawks To Audition S Donovan Wilson

Wilson, a Texas A&M product, remained in the state when the Cowboys took him in the sixth round of the 2019 draft. The 6-foot, 204-pounder wound up spending his first seven seasons in Dallas, where he primarily worked as a first-teamer. Wilson started in 75 of 98 games and tallied 19 passes defensed, 13 sacks, nine forced fumbles and eight interceptions.

Wilson started in all 15 appearances in 2025 and notched 71 tackles, five PDs and a pair of INTs, but it was a disastrous year for the Cowboys’ defense. Thanks in part to a pass defense that ranked last in the league, nobody gave up more points than the Cowboys. As the nearest defender on 35 targets, Wilson yielded a 77.1% completion rate and a 121.3 quarterback rating. The 31-year-old finished the season as Pro Football Focus 83rd-ranked safety among 91 qualifiers. His 38.8 grade in coverage was an even worse 87th.

While no one had more trouble keeping points off the board than the Cowboys, no team allowed fewer than the Seahawks. The Seahawks also ranked a respectable 10th against the pass, but they lost starting safety Coby Bryant to the Bears in free agency. They are also without versatile defensive back Nick Emmanwori for now, as he landed on the active/physically unable to perform list after undergoing ankle surgery.

Seattle expects Emmanwori back for the start of the regular season. In the meantime, Julian Love, Ty Okada, second-round rookie Bud Clark and Rodney Thomas are their top healthy options at the position. If they want more depth and experience, they could turn to Wilson on what should be a low-cost deal. Wilson is familiar with Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde, who was the Cowboys’ D-line coach from 2021-23.
