The Seahawks agreed to a deal with cornerback Terrion Arnold last week, but they remain interested in bolstering the position. Free agent Trevon Diggs tried out for the Seahawks on Tuesday, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Five days since he reached an agreement with the Seahawks, Arnold still has not signed. The Seahawks are on track to finalize the former Lion’s contract at some point, but it is unknown if he will ever play again. With Arnold facing eight felony charges of armed robbery and kidnapping, the NFL will place him on the commissioner’s exempt list if he signs anywhere. That will prevent Arnold from practicing or playing in games as the legal process plays out.

Arnold could eventually factor in for the Seahawks, but it won’t be in the immediate future. With the reigning Super Bowl champions in need of cornerback depth right now, they are considering the 27-year-old Diggs. He previously worked out for the Lions, who are looking for help after cutting Arnold in the wake of his late-June arrest.

Diggs does not carry Arnold’s off-field baggage, but the former Cowboy and Packer does bring a checkered injury history to the table. Thanks in part to his issues staying healthy, the six-year veteran’s effective has dipped in recent seasons. Diggs earned Pro Bowls in his second and third seasons, including an 11-interception campaign in 2021, but went down with a torn ACL two games into 2023. Diggs’ rehab went well enough for him to return for Week 1 the next year, but he wound up missing six games as a result of a groin injury. He also required another surgery on his left knee.

Last season was undoubtedly the worst of Diggs’ career. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder missed eight games with left knee and head injuries, and he looked nothing like his early career self when he took the field. The Cowboys cut Diggs in late December after he failed to record an interception or deflect a pass in eight games. Quarterbacks torched Diggs for a 77.4 completion percentage and a near-spotless 157.2 passer rating (158.3 is perfect) in his final year with the Cowboys, but the corner-needy Packers claimed him on waivers ahead their regular-season finale.

Diggs started for the Packers in Week 18 and lined up for 49% of defensive snaps, though he was on the field for just one play in their wild-card round loss to the Bears. Green Bay then waived Diggs, who is still without a team seven months later.

The Seahawks have established starting corners in Devon Witherspoon, who signed a massive extension over the weekend, as well as Josh Jobe. But they lost Riq Woolen to the Eagles in free agency, leaving Nehemiah Pritchett and Noah Igbinoghene next on the depth chart. Seattle spent a third-rounder on Julian Neal, but he has been out with an undisclosed injury since the first week of camp. With Neal’s status uncertain, the Seahawks could turn to Diggs to replenish their depth.
