Seahawks waive injury-riddled 2023 draftee after 3 seasons

The Seattle Seahawks made another notable roster move Monday night, ending Kenny McIntosh’s three-year tenure with the organization. Seattle waived the former 2023 seventh-round pick after another injury setback prevented him from participating at the start of training camp. The decision opened a spot on the 90-man roster as the Seahawks continued reshaping a crowded running back room ahead of the 2026 season.

McIntosh arrived in Seattle after helping the Georgia Bulldogs capture back-to-back national championships. Injuries, however, repeatedly interrupted his NFL career. A knee sprain limited him to three games as a rookie in 2023, and a torn ACL suffered during 2025 training camp sidelined him for the entire season. He entered this year’s camp on the active/physically unable-to-perform list while continuing his recovery.

Despite showing promise in 2024, McIntosh never secured a consistent offensive role. He appeared in all 17 games that season, rushing 31 times for 172 yards while adding three receptions for 22 yards and contributing extensively on special teams. Seattle also added first-round rookie Jadarian Price and veteran Emanuel Wilson during the offseason, creating a crowded backfield alongside George Holani and the eventual return of Zach Charbonnet.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared the Seahawks’ latest roster move on X, formerly Twitter, after reports emerged that Seattle planned to part ways with the former Georgia standout.

The move ends a challenging period for McIntosh, whose development never matched the potential he showed in college due to repeated knee injuries. Seattle gains additional flexibility as roster competition intensifies throughout training camp, while the 26-year-old now heads to waivers hoping another organization will provide an opportunity once he is fully healthy. His production was limited, but his versatility and championship pedigree could still make him an appealing depth option for a team willing to invest in his recovery and long-term upside.
