Seahawks WR Velus Jones Jr. mocks Chicago Bears after loss to Rams

The Chicago Bears drafted wide receiver Velus Jones Jr. in the third-round of the 2022 draft with the hope that he could help with special teams and the development of quarterback Justin Fields.

Jones played his away off the Bears in 2024 after multiple muffs, fumbles and drops despite special teams coordinator Richard Hightower going out of his way to keep the not-so-young NFL player on the team.

Since being released by the Bears, Jones has had stops with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks.

Jones is currently with Seattle, set to host the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game. He’s recorded four receptions for 32 yards this season.

Despite playing a minor role on Seattle, Jones thought fit to mock the Bears after a 20-17 loss to the Rams in overtime on Sunday night, posting a laughing emoji on X.

And good for Jones, he has a chance to chase a ring by cheering for his teammates to beat the Rams and an AFC opponent in the Super Bowl–if his teammates take him that far.

The Bears have been much better since Jones was released, and the players that have replaced him on the field helped elevate Chicago to an NFC North title and appearance in the Divisional Round.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson was disappointed with the result against the Rams, but he knows his team had impressive season. During his postgame news conference, Johnson called his team a “special group.”

“I am proud of the group, you know, it’s a special group,” Johnson said. “I said that a few weeks ago. I believe that to my core, that you know, when you when you’re with a group of men for the last time in the locker room, and it’s just not going to be the same going forward. I appreciate all of them.”

And surely some of those players appreciate Jones not being on the Bears.
