A few weeks ago, the Los Angeles Rams were heavily linked to Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown as a potential trade target.
During that saga, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk reported that the Rams had discussed moving star wide receiver Davante Adams to make room for Brown. That report was initially dismissed, but according to Sean McVay, there was truth to that report, McVay confirmed those discussions at the owner’s meetings on Monday morning.
Sean McVay says the Rams did have trade discussions involving Davante Adams and that if the team felt those moves would have made the Rams better, he would have been traded.

"We are glad he's a Ram"
Said he talked with Davante and said he thinks he understood the situation
The Rams have been ruthless in the past in pursuit of upgrading the roster, so it wasn't a surprise to me to hear the team at least float the idea of trading Adams. Whether that was to make room for Brown, add more capital to land Brown, or if Adams was included in the deal for A.J. Brown remains a mystery, but those talks evidently did occur.
However, McVay seemingly confirmed Adams’ spot on the roster by ending with “We’re glad he’s a Ram”, putting paid to any further speculation about him being traded away. In McVay's own words: "If we felt like it was best for our team we would have done that. But we didn’t think it was best for our team so excited to be able to move forward with him."
Davante Adams has just one year left on his contract and was recently granted a $6 million bonus. The Rams are evidently interested in adding his replacement on the perimeter, and haven't shied away from being included in discussions in adding talent to their offense.
We'll see what the future holds, but it feels likely that Adams will play out the remainder of his contract in Los Angeles, giving the Rams another top playmaker and a top connection with Matthew Stafford. In a true all in Super Bowl season, keeping that kind of continuity is a priority, so I'm not surprised those talks eventually fizzled out.
