The Los Angeles Rams still have their 53-man roster to finalize more than three months from now. Many fans are wondering if Jalen Ramsey will find his way back to the roster.
The former Rams cornerback remains on the trade market. Ramsey's Miami Dolphins failed to find a suitable trade partner during the 2025 NFL Draft. But that doesn't mean Ramsey is no longer a trade target. His Miami future remains in flux.
Yet, are the Rams still firmly in the mix? And is Sean McVay fully open to a reunion with the CB who won Super Bowl LVI with him?
McVay sent a clear message on where things stand between the franchise and Ramsey during his Friday appearance with Mad Dog Radio with Adam Schein on Sirius XM.
"Those conversations are ongoing as I'm sure they are with multiple teams," McVay told the radio personality. "And we'll see. But we're never going to shy away from opportunities to increase the competitiveness of our roster or add great players. As long as it fits within the framework of everything that an acquisition like that would entail."
The Dolphins have expressed interest in moving Ramsey to help clear cap room. But there's a caveat that involves the month of June.
Miami gets left with more than $25 million in dead cap money off of Ramsey's current contract if he's traded before June 1. Pulling a trade after that June date slices the dead cap value to $6.75 million. The Dolphins also would yield $9.9 million in salary cap space.
The Los Angeles Rams can strike a cheaper bargain with Miami if they work a deal following the first day of next month. Ramsey then walks back into a cornerback room featuring familiar faces Derion Kendrick and Cobie Durant. But improves the experience and playmaking in the CB room. McVay sounds like he's still not ruling out a Ramsey/Rams reunion.
