Sean Salisbury Reacts to the Texans Firing Bobby Slowik

It has been a rollercoaster week for the Texans. From a hard-fought but ultimately unsatisfying result in Kansas City to the news of coaching changes on Friday, this week featured a little bit of everything.

The Texans aren't completely overhauling things, but the changes in coordinator and position coaches are significant. It will be fascinating to see the direction the franchise takes in filling these openings.

Craig: For me, the most disappointing aspect of this last season was all of the penalties. How do the Texans become more disciplined in the future?

Sean: The pre snap penalties are simply inexcusable. A very undisciplined playoff team, especially on offense. More accountability or they will continue to be an early January out.

Craig: Did Bobby Slowik simply hit the wall? There were moments where the offense was stagnant and downright predictable.

Sean: I think Slowik was less aggressive this year and seemed to fall into a predictable trap. Played more not to lose as opposed to play to win. I’m not surprised the Texans will be hiring a new OC.

Craig: What’s the ideal offensive coordinator for C.J. Stroud?

Sean: An aggressive play caller who uses a lot of motion and window dressing. A step on your throat guy when attacking defenses, who preaches protection first and is a great in game adjuster.

Craig: That leads me to my next question. The Texans have to have higher expectations right?

Sean: If they are satisfied just to get to the postseason then they are already cooked. I think the head coach is dissatisfied with the inconsistency. There is only one big goal or at least there should be, and that is to play in February.

Craig: What would you like to see them do personnel wise this off season?

Sean: This Texans defense has special written all over it. The offense held them back in 2024. The defense is going to keep you in every game. The offensive line is a major weakness and detriment to this team. They are soft and need a more nasty attitude with the offensive line. It starts there followed by another offensive playmaker at wide receiver. Nico Collins is a beast. They need more explosive players and need to be greedy. They also need to be better and deeper at tight end. It’s an underachieving position for the Texans.
