The Seattle Seahawks went on the road and put forth a strong performance in the first half against the Arizona Cardinals. Seattle took a 14-3 lead into the locker room. This game has been dominated by each team’s defense thus far. Neither offense was able to find its footing for much of the opening 30 minutes.
Arizona Cardinals Quarterback Kyler Murray started slow and never found his footing in the opening half. Murray suffered a hard-luck interception after the ball bounced off the hands of Wide Receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. into the arms of Seahawks Linebacker Ernest Jones IV. It was Murray’s second interception of the opening half.
The Seattle Seahawks could not take advantage of the short field. After forcing Arizona to punt, the Seahawks would not be denied on their final drive of the half. A pass interference penalty put the Seattle Seahawks on the doorstep of the end zone. Running Back Zach Charbonnet punched the ball in to give Seattle a 14-3 advantage. How will the second half in Arizona unfold?
This was not a well played half of football, but Seattle did enough to take a lead into the locker room. While Seattle’s offense will want to fix a few things, Arizona’s offense was putrid. Murray was 14-of-23 for 83 yards with two picks. He has been unable to develop any sort of connection with Harrison Jr. over the past two seasons. Be that as it may, Arizona’s offense should not be this anemic.
Seattle should have had a bigger lead, but a bone-headed play by Running Back Kenneth Walker III killed what was a promising drive. Quarterback Sam Darnold was extremely efficient in limited work. He was 8-of-11 for 123 yards and a passing touchdown.
The State Farm Stadium faithful understandably grew restless as the first half went on, booing the team on multiple occasions this evening. They expected a better offensive output in the first 30 minutes. Even with so many mistakes, it is anyone’s game in the second half. The winner of tonight’s contest will be sitting pretty in a loaded NFC West.
