A former Boise State running back was the leader in rushing between the Las Vegas Raiders and Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night, but it wasn’t Ashton Jeanty.
The No. 6 pick by the Raiders finished with -1 yards rushing on three carries in his preseason debut in front of 68,425 fans at Lumen Field. Jeanty’s former college teammate, George Holani, led the Seahawks in rushing with 61 yards and a touchdown on seven carries in a 23-23 tie.
Following the second-year running back’s performance, the Seahawks made a joke at Jeanty’s expense while praising Holani.
“Some people are saying @GeorgeHolani is the best RB out of Boise State,” the Seahawks posted on X.

Holani, who the Seahawks signed as an undrafted free agent in 2024, praised his offensive line for opening up running lanes against the Raiders during his post-game presser.
“Shout out to the bigs, man,” Holani said via the Seahawks. “You know, none of this is possible without them, you know, getting out there, getting after those guys every play. You know, they showed out all after all night. And I’m excited for those guys, and what’s to come for them.”
Jeanty had the opposite deal behind the Raiders’ offensive line, as defenders were in his face before he received a handoff.
Holani was a star in his own right at Boise State. He earned MW Freshman of the Year in 2019. He earned second-team All-MW honors in 2019 and 2022. He recorded 3,569 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns and added 88 receptions for 777 yards and eight touchdowns.
