Shedeur Sanders Development Emerges Before Browns-Dolphins

Shedeur Sanders watched as Dillon Gabriel and the Cleveland Browns dropped their fifth game of the 2025 NFL season, falling to 1-5 after a 23-9 loss to Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 6. Gabriel finished his second career start completing 29-of-52 passes for 221 yards, but the Browns were unable to get into the end zone. Now, they will look to get back on track in Week 7, hosting Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins.

Sanders initially started the season as Cleveland's third-string quarterback, backing up Gabriel and Joe Flacco. But, four games into 2025, the Browns elected to trade Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals, making Gabriel the full-time starter and sliding Sanders to the backup role. And while Sanders hasn't seen any regular-season action just yet, the former Colorado Buffaloes star is making big moves in the Cleveland community.

Following the Week 6 loss, Fox 8 Cleveland reported that Sanders has partnered with Drive Point Auto Group for the “Driven to Give Back” Car Giveaway, a contest sponsored by eight Ohio car dealerships. The giveaway is open to all Ohio residents, with nominations accepted through Oct. 30.

Sanders will also help select the winner of the new car, which will be announced on Nov. 10. Candidates will be judged on three criteria: 40% for the compelling nature of their story, 40% for demonstrated need, and 20% for the clarity and sincerity of the nomination. And the winner will get to choose between a 2025 Kia K4 LXS (valued a $24,560) or a 2025 Hyundai Elantra SE ($23,285).

"Shedeur Sanders is giving back," Fox 8's Brad Stainbrook wrote on X. "The #Browns QB is teaming up with Drive Point Auto Group, Kia & Hyundai of Bedford, and Fox 8 to give away a new car to someone in need. Nominations close Oct. 30."

Sanders and the Browns will host the Dolphins in Week 7 on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
