Shedeur Sanders injury update: Former Colorado QB held out at Browns camp

Shedeur Sanders was held out of team drills Saturday due to an injury, the Browns said. The Colorado Buffaloes legendary QB is reportedly dealing with arm soreness.

This news comes after Sanders had an outstanding first week of training camp and got reps against the first-team defense. With Kenny Pickett sidelined with a hamstring injury, Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel took all the reps Saturday, according to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.

Sanders continues to try and to make an impression during the lead up to his rookie season. Cleveland added him as the fifth QB on the books, but didn't expect he would be available as a fifth-rounder in the 2025 NFL Draft. It has been the biggest NFL storyline going into this year's preseason with Sanders expected to compete for a better position.

Sanders led the nation with a 74 percent completion percentage and 4,134 passing yards, along with 37 touchdowns. His third season with 30+ touchdowns between Colorado and Jackson State.

This isn't the first injury concern of Sanders' career. He suffered a fractured back at the end of the 2023 season after taking a record 52 sacks.

Sanders' transition to Cleveland has been an underdog story in the making. We'll continue to see how this plays out with the Browns facing the Carolina Panthers in preseason Week 1 next Friday (7 p.m. ET on NFL+).
